Neighbors of all ages and walks of life joined the Friends of Youngblood Coleman Park, Greenagers, SF Rec and Park Dept, SF Police Dept Athletic League, B-Magic,  Bayview Merchants Association and the Butchertown Neighborhood Association ‎on the evening of Tuesday August 6, 2013 for the National Night Out celebration at Youngblood Coleman Playground.  National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, began in an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It now involves over 37 million people and 15,000 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. Visitors enjoyed music, barbecue, and the climbing wall and skateboard ramps supplied by the SFRPD mobile Rec Center.  The event also marked the completion of improvements to the tennis and basketball courts.  Team sports with the members SF Police Dept were an evening highlight.  National Night Out represents the kind of spirit, energy and determination that helps to make neighborhoods a safer place year round.
