McLaren Park Persia Ave Entrance (Picnic Area)

BACKGROUND

SF Rec and Park has completed improvements at three trail entryways in McLaren Park– Campbell Ave, Visitacion Ave Fire Road, and Persia Ave just east of the picnic area–through generous support from a federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant. Trailside vegetation was restored to control erosion and improve habitat value, and 3 new entrance signs were installed. Rec and Park has matched this funding with volunteer-completed realignment of a steep trail segment just south of Mansell leading to the magnificent vista point at McLaren Park overlooking Bernal Heights and downtown San Francisco. The realignment improves public access and pedestrian safety. This project also received support from the 2008 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond as part of Rec and Park’s Citywide Trails Improvement Program.
