Job Description

Work at one of San Francisco Recreation and Park’s highly successful neighborhood day camps!  The Day Camp Specialist manages a day camp in one of SF RPD’s active facilities, providing enriching activities and life-long memories for the children.

Job Responsibilities

Plans, conducts, and evaluates specialized recreation programs and activities at an assigned recreation facility pertaining to neighborhood summer day camp.  Assists in developing goals and objectives for neighborhood summer day camps. Selects and purchases materials and supplies for specialized recreation programs. Promotes and publicizes programs; prepares marketing material including fliers, schedules of events, brochures and activity guides.  Communicates with parents, including holding parent orientations.  Supervises, trains and evaluates assigned recreation staff. May supervise incumbents in class 3279 Recreation Leader, 3264 Camp Assistant, 9910 Workreation and various volunteers.  Conducts administrative tasks, such as taking and entering attendance.  Other duties as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications
  • 6-24 units of Early Childhood Education/Youth Development
  • Two years experience developing summer day camp curriculum
  • One year experience supervising and leading staff
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified
  • Must be energetic and enthusiastic
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks
  • CA Driver’s License
