Eco-Camp Lake Merced – Mather Expedition Recreation Leader

Job Description

This camp has four two week sessions throughout the summer. The first week is held at the newly renovated Lake Merced Boathouse where campers will learn about the diverse habitat and eco-systems of the area through day hikes and fun activities. The second week features a trip to Camp Mather, near Yosemite National Park, where we will tent camp and have the opportunity to participate in Camp Mather’s amazing activities like canoe rides and archery. The trip will culminate with an opportunity to experience Camp Mather’s brand new ropes course!

Job Responsibilities

Will be responsible for execution of curriculum focused on stewardship, environmental awareness, and team building in preparation for Mather trip. Will supervise campers on day hikes, restoration projects, and other field trips. Will play leadership role on camping trip and be responsible for one of four categories: food, gear, medical, or logistics.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Possession of Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Response Certification
  • Experience leading ages 9-13 in recreational activities, especially with an environmental focus
  • Experience leading camping trips with ages 9-13. Commitment to spend a week at Camp Mather in the High Sierras four times during the summer
