Job Description

Camp Mather is the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department’s resort family camp located just outside of Yosemite National Park in the High Sierras. The camp serves over 500 people of all ages on a weekly basis and runs from mid-May to mid-August. Crystal clear lakes, surging streams and quiet mountain forest surround Mather and offer unlimited recreation to visitors. We sponsor supervised recreation programs for all ages and fine dining with hearty home cooked meals served three times daily, cafeteria style. This year a brand new ropes course has been constructed with low, mid, and high level elements that will operate as part of the camp’s recreation program.

We are seeking highly motivated, spirited, and cooperative individuals with a background in leading ropes/challenge course or climbing activities to contribute to our new course. The position is 40 hours per week and includes full room and board as well as training.

Job Responsibilities

Development of ropes/challenge course activities and schedule. Set-up and breakdown of the elements of the course each day. Leading groups through the elements of the course while ensuring safety of participants. Participate in training prior to start of summer.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience leading groups in a ropes/challenge course setting
  • Understanding of proper belay techniques and harness safety
  • Experience leading recreational activities with all ages
  • Availability to work the entire duration of the summer
