The overall floor plan and the latest renderings can be seen here:

The contract for the renovation was awarded to the contractor at the August Recreation and Park Commission Meeting.  Since that time we have been cleaning out the building to prepare for the renovation, and working with the contractor to start the construction.

Recreation Center Renovation Coming Up/ What to Expect:

We are working with the contractor to start construction on the building on October 13th, or shortly thereafter. The first thing you will see is fencing to be installed around the recreation center, and porta potties to arrive.

During renovation of the recreation center the ballfields, playground, and tennis courts will all be open. We will also provide an ADA accessible Porta-Potty available onsite 7 days a week while the building is closed for renovation.

The areas that will be closed during construction include the recreation center building and the related patio (in front of the restroom current door), the lawn directly to the north of the building, the picnic areas directly around the building, including the picnic area at the back of the auditorium. The main construction staging area is planned behind the rec center on the lawn area. All of the current access points from Elk Street will remain open and are NOT anticipated to be used for construction access, including the Sussex Street Stairs, the trail from Elk Street above the tennis court and the new ADA drop off constructed at Elk street, used today. It is anticipated that construction access will be from the Bosworth Entrance.

I am working to renovate the Sussex street steps with the trails program, and I will be providing an update on that as soon as I can.

We will work to minimize impact on the neighbors to the greatest extent we can.

You will be hearing more from me as the construction gets underway.

Thank you again for your patience, let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Karen
