Family Photo Exhibit Call for Entry—Deadline Extended to September 28!

We want your family snapshots! Dig through your old photo albums, pull some gems off your fridge, and scour your digital archives!

Harvey Milk Photo Center is searching high and low for photos that represent the many forms and facets of family within the Bay Area LGBT and straight ally community. A variety of family units, such as those consisting of parents and children, significant others, extended family members, friends, and pets, will be showcased in this exhibition. Snapshots encouraged!

We are seeking old printed photos to be scanned at our facility, as well as digital images ranging from phone to DSLR quality. Images may be color or black and white, vintage or current, candid or posed and can include whole families or just a few members at a time.

We welcome all ages and skill levels to submit, including kids, teens, adults, and seniors. Participants are also required to include a brief description (20–250 words) about their families.


Submission Instructions:
Please submit up to 10 images electronically or in person, along with a brief family story that’s 20–250 words. Please include your full name, phone number, and email address with your submission. Files must be received by Saturday, September 28 at 4 p.m.

If you’d like your images mailed back to you, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.


Rules for Submission:
One entry per household/family will be chosen for final selection, which will be at the discretion of San Francisco Recreation & Parks. All selected participants must sign our submission agreement.

Ten select images from the exhibit will also be on display at Eureka Valley Recreation Center in the Castro.

All images for the exhibit will be printed on our high-end Epson Printer and framed in 16 x 20 black frames provided by the Photo Center. (Hard copy submissions will also be scanned.) The printing cost will be $22.50 per print, and each print must be purchased before
