Sunday Streets – Mission

Sunday Streets are events that encourage recreation, community activities and fun in San Francisco. Sunday Streets closes stretches of city streets to automobile traffic, and opens them to people for several hours on a various Sundays throughout the year, so participants can enjoy a large, temporary, public space where they can bike, walk, run, dance, do yoga, or do any other physical activity. Non-profit and health organizations offer free activities and share information about their services during the event.
About Sunday Streets in the Mission
The 2014 Sunday Streets Season Finale event will be held in the popular Mission district! The second Mission Sunday Streets will primarily us the same streets as the August Mission Sunday Streets – include 18th St between Guerrero and Harrison Streets and Valencia St from 25th St to Duboce Ave. The exact northern terminus of the route on Valencia will be determined after evaluating the success or challenges of extending the route to McCoppin St on August 24.

How to participate
Each Sunday Streets is made possible with the support and dedication of dozens of volunteers. From event prep and neighborhood outreach to staffing the event, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few ways you can lend a hand:
- Neighborhood outreach: Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10am-12pm and 1-3pm between Sept 9 – Oct 21
- Volunteer orientation: Weekday evenings at the Livable City Office. View dates/times and RSVP for an orientation here.
- Sign prep: Friday, October 10, 12:30-2:30pm
- Sign posting: Wednesday, October 15, 11-1:30pm, 2-4:30pm
- Event: Sunday, October 19!
Host an activity
All activities that take place at Sunday Streets are offered at no cost to participants, and are led by community organizations, local merchant or neighborhood groups, individuals and Sunday Streets partners who graciously donate their time to make each event so special.
