GGP: Strawberry Hill Butterfly and Trail Project
September 12 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
An event every month that begins at 10:00am on day 12 of the month, repeating until December 9, 2017
If you love your parks, and are looking for a meaningful and substantive way to make a positive difference, come on out and volunteer with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department!
On the second Saturday of every month, we enhance habitat on Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park. We remove invasive weeds, and put in plant species that Swallowtails and other butterflies need to thrive. It’s an inspiring and fun day in a gorgeous setting.
Each month, we build on the progress begun at our first work day in September 2010, maintaining and adding more and more butterfly habitat on the slopes and top of Strawberry Hill. This is an ongoing program – we’re looking for both occasional volunteers, and those who would like to be involved on a regular basis.
To RSVP please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 415-831-6330 by the Wednesday prior to the workday. (We need to know how many volunteers will participate so we’ll bring enough supplies and tools for everyone.)
All instruction and needed tools are provided. Please wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and dress in layers as the weather may change quickly. You may want to bring a bottle of water to keep with you while you work. If you’re sensitive to sun, don’t forget your sun block lotion and hat.
