Bi-Rite Cafe Opening at Civic Center Plaza on October 23

October 23 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

BiRite
Bi-Rite Cafe will open its doors in the Civic Center Plaza later this month, serving up soft serve ice cream, healthy food options, and a lively gathering space! The cafe was born from the community’s request for more fresh food options for families visiting the Helen Diller Civic Center Playgrounds that opened in February. Funding for the cafe came from a $2 million Mercer Fund grant made in honor of Helen Diller, whose family foundation also awarded the generous $10 million donation to fund the design and construction of those two vibrant, state-of-the-art playgrounds at Civic Center Plaza, at no cost to the City.
Neighbors are invited to the Bi-Rite Cafe’s opening celebration on Tuesday, October 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. featuring passed bites and community, as well as FREE Zumba and the Bubble Guy! The opening of the café is the latest attraction transforming the area into a destination for neighborhood families and tourists alike. The surrounding blocks host outdoor art, free performances, and weekly family friendly events. Bringing the café to Civic Center Plaza was a collaboration between the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, the Trust for Public Land and the Civic Center Community Benefit District (CCCBD). Bi-Rite, the operator of the new cafe, is a local family-owned institution since 1940.
