Pilates is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. In addition, Pilates increases circulation and helps to sculpt the body and strengthen the body’s core or ‘powerhouse’ (torso). People who do Pilates regularly feel they have better posture, are less prone to injury, and experience better overall health. The kitchen is the heart of any home; bringing together family, friends and loved ones around the dinner table. In this hands-on class, you will be taught proper food handling, fresh ingredient selection, meal planning and proper cooking techniques to easily prepare delicious meals like Lemon Rosemary Roast Chicken, Wild Rice with Cranberries and Caramelized Onions, and of course delicious desserts. By learning some simple but effective techniques you will be able to prepare delicious and memorable home-cooked meals and spend more time with your family and less time in the kitchen!

The opportunity you’ve been waiting for! A performance group for Seniors! This class is for all performance levels from novice to expert. We will play with music as our script, focusing on a repertoire of blues, show tunes, classics, and folk music. Over the course of the class we will weave our favorite pieces into a 30-40 minute performance. The group will hold a show at the end of the session for friends and family to attend. Ideally the group will expand to perform at other Rec Park events as the year continues. This class meets on their own without an instructor at this time.

This volleyball league provides a competitive atmosphere designed to challenge girls, ages 10-14, to improve their athletic skills thorugh practice one day per week and games on Saturdays. Girls will gain knowledge of the rules of competition through playing against other teams and the opportunity to grow into mature athletes exhibiting positive sportsmanship attitudes. SF Rec & Park team members will recieve a uniform for Saturday games. At the end of the season, we will hold a championship game followed by an awards ceremony.

The ancient form of belly dance has been practiced for thousand of years and remains exceptionally popular throughout the world. Belly dancing tones muscles, is energized, and can be learned by people of all fitness levels. During the class, we will cover moves such as the Egyptian shoulder shimmies and undulations. Over the course of the session you will learn the fundamentals of the dance which we will put into a fun combination. There’s no better way to burn calories and stay in shape by dancing! Please wear comfortable dance oriented clothes and shoes for the class. No class 5/7.

About the Facility: Richmond Rec center includes a full indoor basketball court, ping pong hallway, kitchen, and one multipurpose room with mirrors and window doors looking out to the basketball courts.

Renting the Facility: The multipurpose room is available for rental through our permits and reservations office. You can contact them by calling 415-831-6800.

Directions: The recreation center is located at 251 18th Ave between California St & Clement St

Bus Routes:  #1 - California -- 19th Ave. and California stop; walk 1/2 block north along 19th to the playground.
