Moscone Rec Center building and sign picture

Find activities and programs for all ages at this full-service Rec Center in the Marina District. The popular facility includes an indoor gym, community rooms, two play areas, a basketball court, two tennis courts, four ball diamonds, a putting green and fully renovated playground.

Local legend has it that Joe DiMaggio took Marilyn Monroe for a stroll in this park just hours before they tied the knot at City Hall. Formerly known as Funston Park, it was renamed for Mayor Moscone, who was assassinated in 1978.

Summer Camps

This summer we are offering a variety of fun camps for ages 6 to 12! Outdoor Discovery Camp, Baseball Camp and Golf Camp were all very popular last summer so be sure to sign up on Saturday March 15,2014 at 10:00 am . You can register here at Moscone or by visiting www.sfreconline.org.

San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department and SFFD Flame Athletics present SFYBL Spring Youth Coach/Kid Pitch Baseball. Individual players (or groups of players) ages 7-8, as of April 30, 2014, that want to sign up for a team and have an SFRPD coach, sign up below for the location and time that you want to practice. Teams will be formed based on the sign ups. If a class is full at a particular location, you can wait list and we will try to form other teams with practices at or nearby that location. These teams will play in the Pinto division of SFYBL which provides for limited kid pitching (after a certain number of walks, a coach will pitch). Fees include one practice per week, a uniform, a coach and entry into the SFYBL Baseball league. Games start March 16, and practices start on the week of March 4. Games will be on Saturdays. Learn new recipes and share your cooking secrets with others.

Put down the boxed cake mix and pre-made cookie dough! This class will teach you the skills and techniques you need to create your own delicious home baked pies, cookies, muffins and biscuits, breads, cakes and more! We will cover basic measuring, mixing techniques, ingredient selection, Mise en Place, and production of the baked goods. This class is taught by a professional Pastry Chef who will help take the fear out of baking by teaching you the skills needed to understand the principals of baking and pastry arts.

This class is the next step in our series of lessons that will take you deeper into the wonderful world of golf. About the Facility: The building has three classrooms that are used for ceramics, yoga, early childhood development, senior, dance and more. We also have a gym, stage and kitchen. Our outdoor amenities consist of  four tennis courts, two outdoor basketball courts, three softball fields, one baseball diamond, a putting green and children’s play ground.

Renting the Facility: The community room, gym and outside areas are available for rental through our permits and reservations office. You can contact them by calling 415-831-6800.

Directions: The recreation center is located at 1800 Chestnut Street at corner of Buchannan Street.
