Find activities and programs for all ages at this full-service Rec Center in the Marina District. The popular facility includes an indoor gym, community rooms, two play areas, a basketball court, two tennis courts, four ball diamonds, a putting green and fully renovated playground.

Local legend has it that Joe DiMaggio took Marilyn Monroe for a stroll in this park just hours before they tied the knot at City Hall. Formerly known as Funston Park, it was renamed for Mayor Moscone, who was assassinated in 1978.

Junior Giants Baseball

Junior Giants free baseball league is right around the corner!  If you are interested in volunteering as a head or assistant coach please contact Cortez Espinoza at cortez.espinoza@sfgov.org. Registration for individual players is available now at  www.sportssignup.com.

Summer Camps

Bring a lunch, healthy snacks, a water bottle, a small backpack, warm clothes, and sturdy hiking shoes. Drop off is at 9am and pick up is no later than 3pm. Classes for mature adults, designed to promote general health and fitness through various types of physical exercise.

Qi Gong (pronounced ‘Chee’ Gong) consist of the developmental exercises that one practices in the meditative martial art known as, Tai Chi. Through slow, simple, easy, and effective movements, we will not only develop out balance and coordination, but also reduce stress and tension while gaining a deepening sense of peace, power and harmony. This class is open to beginners and practitioners of all levels.

Put down the boxed cake mix and pre-made cookie dough! This class will teach you the skills and techniques you need to create your own delicious home baked pies, cookies, muffins and biscuits, breads, cakes and more! We will cover basic measuring, mixing techniques, ingredient selection, Mise en Place, and production of the baked goods. This class is taught by a professional Pastry Chef who will help take the fear out of baking by teaching you the skills needed to understand the principals of baking and pastry arts. No class on 7/3.

About the Facility: The building has three classrooms that are used for ceramics, yoga, early childhood development, senior, dance and more. We also have a gym, stage and kitchen. Our outdoor amenities consist of  four tennis courts, two outdoor basketball courts, three softball fields, one baseball diamond, a putting green and children’s play ground.

Renting the Facility: The community room, gym and outside areas are available for rental through our permits and reservations office. You can contact them by calling 415-831-6800.

Directions: The recreation center is located at 1800 Chestnut Street at corner of Buchannan Street.
