Minnie and Lovie Ward Recreation Center Park

Choose from a wide selection of programs and classes at this sparkling new Recreation Center. The renovated building includes a gymnasium, community room, teen center, multipurpose rooms, arts and crafts room, preschool, kitchen and weight room. A large central courtyard provides additional gathering space. The Rec Center shares a 10-acre park with baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts. The play structures, entry plaza, picnic and BBQ areas, and paths have also been upgraded.

This is the third Stepping Stone. Children will grow and explore essential social, cognitive and physical skills in a dynamic and creative setting. Children begin an awareness of the alphabet, colors, and number concepts in a supportive environment. 2-4 hours of classroom volunteering per session is required by the guardian, along with taking a turn providing snack. If your child is not potty-trained, the caretaker must stay throughout the duration of each class. At the Moscone location, parents or caregivers must always stay with their child at all classes.

A total body workout, regardless of fitness level. These exercises are designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. The workout is a combination of aerobic, flexibility and resistance (strength) training, all done in a fun-filled environment! Intergenerational program: those 18 and over welcomed to join this course as well.

San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department and SFFD Flame Athletics present SFYBL Spring Youth Coach/Kid Pitch Baseball. Individual players (or groups of players) ages 7-8, as of April 30, 2016, that want to sign up for a team and have a SFRPD coach, sign up below for the location and time that you want to practice. Teams will be formed based on the sign ups. If a class is full at a particular location, you can wait list and we will try to form other teams with practices at or nearby that location. These teams will play in the Pinto division of SFYBL which provides for limited kid pitching (after a certain number of walks, a coach will pitch). Fees include one practice per week, a uniform, a coach and entry into the SFYBL Baseball league. Games start March 16, and practices start on the week of March 4. Games will be on Saturdays. If a team with a coach wants to register, please go to the SFYBL website (http://sfybl.org/).

About the Facility: One of the best views of city! You have to climb up big hills to reach this location, but once you do, you'll be rewarded with a 360 degree view of San Francisco. This facility includes a indoor basketball gym, weight room, the arts & crafts room, community room, kitchen along with outdoor basketball and tennis courts huge soccer and baseball field, play structure, and the big slide.

Renting the Facility: The facility is available for rental through our permits and reservations office. You can contact them by calling 415-831-6800.

Directions: The recreation center is located at 650 Capitol Ave between Minerva St & Montana St.

Bus Routes:  M-Ocean View: Plymouth and Broad stop; walk two short blocks north on Plymouth to Lobos St. and the park. ALSO: Plymouth and Capitol stop; walk two short blocks north on Capitol to Lobos St. and the park.
