The San Francisco Marina Yacht Harbor

Welcome to San Francisco Small Craft Yacht Harbor website. San Francisco Marina, as it is also known, is a destination sought by thousands of boaters from all over the world. The oldest recreational marina operating in San Francisco, and perhaps the Greater Bay Area, the harbor has had vessels berthed in its original basin, now known as the West Harbor, since before the 1906 earthquake. The original marina was expanded in the mid-1960s, is approximately 35 acres. The entire facility has 671 berths, plus ten end ties for guest berthing vessels up to 100 feet LOA, free pump out stations and a commercial fuel dock.

The San Francisco Marina is located on the northern waterfront of the City of San Francisco. It is approximately one and one-half miles east of Golden Gate Bridge and west of and adjacent to Fort Mason. The East Harbor, also known as Gashouse Cove, is next to the western boundary of Fort Mason. The East Harbor consists of 343 boat slips, the City Yachts boat sales, and park land which includes a restroom, and two parking lots.

The West Harbor includes the West Harbor marina area, the Saint Francis And Golden Gate Yacht Clubs, the Harbormaster's Building, the park area known as Marina Green which includes restrooms and a concession stand, and four parking lots. There are 343 boats slips in the West Harbor area, of which 269 are in the inner harbor basin, with the balance in the outer harbor basin.

San Francisco Marina also features a large and popular park, Marina Green, which is home to many events including Escape From Alcatraz, many marathons, and is headquarters to Fleet Week every October. Marina Green also has several "par course" workout stations along its perimeter.

San Francisco Marina is home to two yacht clubs, the St. Francis Yacht Club and the Golden Gate Yacht club (winner of the 2010 America's Cup). Both clubs sponsor many regattas, and attract internationally known, world class sailors to their events.

Our mission is to offer the best facility and service to as many boaters of our diverse boating public as possible, and to promote the enjoyment of recreation boating. We follow Best Management Practices and have been a certified Clean Marina facility since 2007. The marina also has memberships in the California Association of Harbormasters & Port Captains, and the Marina Recreation Association.
