The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department is committed to supporting cultural arts, promoting and providing quality art experiences, access, and venues such as the Harvey Milk Center for the Performing Arts and Sharon Arts Studio for every generation. The Departments Cultural Arts Division aims to develop and amplify a diverse and vibrant arts community that enriches lives here in our beautiful city. The core of this effort is a stated commitment to ensure that the arts are accessible to all, and a vision to identify San Francisco Recreation and Park as a quality arts destination.

Art Specialty Camps

The Cultural Arts Division offers several specialized creative camp experiences for young people to learn & explore the world through art making, physical movement and social practice. Camp selections are available over the summer, winter & spring breaks. Summer Camp offerings include Art in the Park, Harvey Milk Digital Summer Camp, Pacific Art Camp & Randall Summer Camp.

Harvey Milk Thumb

Harvey Milk Arts Center

Located in the Southwestern area of Duboce Park, this lively Center is the destination spot for many of the City's cultural arts pursuits. Home to the Recreation & Park Department's unique Photo Center, Harvey Milk also features an expansive ballroom, a dance studio, art studios, and a newly installed recording studio. Programs include classes in Digital & Visual Arts, Dance, Music & Theater and other traditional neighborhood recreation activities.

The San Francisco Photography Center, located on the bottom floor of the Harvey Milk Arts Center, is home to one largest and last remaining traditional black and white darkroom in the city.

Randall Museum

The Randall Museum offers children and adults a place to explore, investigate and create from the natural world at a spectacular site overlooking San Francisco. The Randall features a live animal exhibit displaying native California animals, vibrant interactive exhibits, and "Toddler Treehouse", a toddler play space. Facilities include a theater for stage performances, woodworking, ceramics and art studios for creating one of a kind projects and extensive natural history collections. The Arts and Sciences are alive at the Randall Museum with family, afterschool, and school field trip programming.

Sharon Art Studio

The Sharon Art Studio is San Francisco's largest public community art center. We offer affordable classes in ceramics, glass, jewelry, drawing and watercolor for youth (ages 5 and older), adults and seniors. Located in a historic building adjacent to our newly renovated Koret Children's Playground and Carousel in Golden Gate Park, Sharon Art Studio is a choice destination for creative learning.

Golden Gate Park Senior Center - Coming Soon!

The Golden Gate Senior Center is a facility dedicated to the enjoyment of quality artistic and recreational activities for all seniors age 55 and over. Located on the Northwest side of Golden Gate Park, the Center strives to provide seniors with programs to improve and maintain the physical, intellectual and social well being of its seniors. Classes offered include art classes, dancing, exercise, cards games, bingo, language classes among other social activities.

The newest addition to the Cultural Division, Mission Arts is an art destination site in heart of San Francisco's Mission District. Located on Treat and 21st Street, this beautiful brick building will play host to some of the City’s finest music, dance, and visual art offerings in an open and diverse community setting.
